Today was a day like any other in rainy season... lots of thunder, lightning, and rain. This morning Koda, Kenai, and I were sitting on our bench couch reading together. Cody and I heard a loud noise, but it was different than the normal sound of thunder. We went outside to see our next door neighbor's huge coconut tree laying on the ground, and had gone through the brick wall. It truly was a miracle, in the way that it fell. It could've fallen on our house and would've landed right where the kids and I were sitting. It also could've gone through the next door neighbor's house and directly hit right where they were sitting; or it could've gone into the other neighbor's yard and hit their cabana. This was the only place that it hit that only took down the wall and no one was hurt.
This is the view from our front patio
You can see from our front patio, that it took down almost the entire brick wall
There was lots of coconuts and lots to clean up
When we looked at the roots of tree, only a quarter of the tree roots were alive still. The majority of the roots were dead and ripped away by the tsunami. It wasn't even that windy, but that tree was bound to fall. I kept re-enforcing to my neighbors that we have a good God that was watching out for us and protecting us. They agreed with me :)
The girls and I moved all of the branches to this open area
Cody came and cut 4 spots in the tree with the electric skill saw (it didn't work really at all)
So he cut it Sri Lankan style with an axe
