Happy Thanksgiving!

We enjoyed the day with our kiddos and puppies
We had the kids make little turkeys for their school project and tell us all the things they were thankful for and wrote it out for them

We prepared for our Thanksgiving meal to enjoy with our friends Niklas and Brenna Erikkson. They invited us up to their house to enjoy our American Holiday together.

We have pumpkins here, so we tried to figure out how to make a pumpkin pie from scratch. Cody and I peeled and cut the pumpkins up. Then Cody ran with it from there- and I mean ran with it! He got a recipe online and made up the inside and the crust. We have a friend that has an oven at his restaurant, and so we called him. Well, the oven was broken. Our other option was that Johnson has an electric small toaster/oven, but the electricity was out for the day. So this is what Cody configured. He put two bricks on top of the stove, the pie on top of that; then put a big fried rice bowl over the top. Good thing there's foil in Sri Lanka; he put foil all around it to give it that feel of an oven.
And.... wa-la! So delish! I love being married to a man that knows how to improvise, especially for the sake of the holidays :)
I made my friend Ashley's peanut butter balls and bought a bunch of candy to decorate them like little turkeys

The neighbor boys enjoyed some too!

Brenna and Nik had cute little Thanksgiving decor.
We didn't feel like we missed out. We enjoyed our day with pumpkin soup and cheese & jelly crackers, chicken (they don't have turkeys here), mashed potatoes, carrots, dill green beans with cashews, and rolls. Then for dessert: Cody's pumpkin pie and my no bake chocolate cookies and turkey peanut butter balls. Yum Yum! We also had Apple Soda, that reminds us of Apple Cider.

 Our lovely hosts.
We are very thankful this year for our lives and our families, our "team" and the things God is doing here. Its never easy being away from family, especially on the holidays, but we enjoyed our day together. We had a nice time of prayer before we ate and prayed for my dad and mom while they spent Thanksgiving in the hospital, and prayed for all of our loved ones.
