Koda's 7th Birthday

Happy Birthday to our precious Koda Bear. He ruled the day and chose to spend the beginning part of his birthday having Sunday School (as it was a Sunday). Then we headed to the beach and took the boat and inner tubing and wake surfing. Koda stood up for the first time wake surfing and road quite a ways. Then we headed home and decorated for an afternoon/evening party, filled with many games, food, fun and dancing.

YAY KODA!!!!!!

International Surfing Day

For International Surfing Day we asked the surf club what we could do to celebrate with them or how we could help them put something on for the day. They had no plan for the day, so we took our surf and swim in a jeep to Okanda, a great surf spot.

Morning exercise and stretching before paddling out.

A time of prayer before hitting the waves.

Some of our smallest boys are doing so good!

And some of our older continue getting better!

And those not surfing, had a blast on the beach!

And there's always one goofy teacher out in the waves with his shirt on his head ;)

That evening together with the surf club, we hosted a surf movie nights, showing surf films and photos and videos of our local surfers. It was a great night together.

Another Birthday Boy- Johnson!!

Happy Birthday Johnson!!!!! We love the closeness in our families. Johnson has so much family here, but he counts us as closer than family. We had a small celebration with just the three of them and us four for cake after lunch time. Then we invited over a couple other close friends and brought pizza dinner over for everyone to celebrate that evening. We love Johnson!!! Happy Birthday brother!

Happy Birthday Cody!!!!

We celebrated lots of birthdays/holidays this month. And one of them was Cody's 33rd birthday.

We spent the morning taking a couple of tuk tuks with friends Aziz and Babu, Stefan and Le'i (our STN Hawaii friends out visiting from Sweden). We headed to Komari to a few surf breaks. They ended up not working as well as our main point. A few of us surfed a little; the boys played on the beach. But Cody's epic birthday waves were not there; so we knew evening session would be at the main point in A-Bay.

poor Kenai with stitches, still can't swim; playing cards on the cards on the beach with Stefan

Cody wanted his favorite roti and curry from his favorite shop in Pottuvil. Yum yum!

He got in his good surf at Main Point that evening and was stoked!

We had dinner with our good friends all together at Hangloose Restaurant in A-Bay.

They also had a pool table to play around on. Aziz and Cody taught the kids how to play.

I baked my first cake in my lil oven, and Cody said he loved it!! We let him eat the majority of it since he liked it so much :)
Happy Happy Birthday Cody!!!!!

Fishing Time this Month

Cody's friends call up Cody when no one else will go fishing and take the risk of a "no fish day;" they know that Cody will jump on that challenge. And they seem to always come back with fish to stoke out the guys and bless many people in the village that aren't getting fish. It kind of reminds me of the story of Jesus providing the fish, when they cast their nets to the other side. When they're on J.C's boat, their nets are catching! :)

Happy Fathers Day Cody

Happy Fathers Day Cody!!!! We got to spoil and love on Cody. He's a great daddy to not only our boys but also fills a fatherly role to so many boys in our village. Cody spent his day with his boys and Koda really wanted to go surfing with his daddy at the main point here in A-Bay (which is not a beginning spot). It was their first time to both paddle out together and surf together there. Made for a great fathers day for Cody! He's a proud daddy!
