The photos do not even do justice to what this double to triple overhead swell looked like. It was big! There weren't a whole lot of surfers out, but my hubby was amongst those brave to paddle out in the thick walls of water. It was a fun two days shooting photos from the beach. And Cody was stoked on the big swell and being out there in the water. Some heavy waves, some scary wipe outs and fun times!

Some More Visitors
Cody had met a friend at the computer store in Colombo, the last time we were there. His name is Prageeth. As they talked through life, they came to realize that they both loved JC. Prageeth planned a trip down to see us with two of his friends from Texas, that work in Colombo printing Bibles in multiple languages.
As "M's" they don't have holidays very often. We wanted to bless them while they were on "vacation." They stayed at our STN property and I cooked dinners for them while they were here three days. Cody took them fishing and taught them how to surf. They seemed to really enjoy their time and stay in A-Bay.
Sharmali's Surprise Birthday Dinner
Mona and I planned a little surprise for Sharmali's birthday. We had all the meet up at a restaurant close to my house. We decorated with balloons and flowers, and had planned for Sharmali to come to dinner with Mona. All of girls jumped out and surprised her. She was so happy and blessed, and truly surprised (which doesn't happen here very often- not many people keep quiet). It was a fun evening for all the girls.
Girls Day Out
It takes a lot to get these girls out, and after planning and convincing I got all the girls together (minus a couple) to go on an adventure. I rented 3 tuk tuks and we headed to Elephant Rock, where we explored, climbing rocks, swimming and Sharmali and I surfed. I taught Sage how to surf for a bit, but it was a pretty big day for learning. All of the girls were so excited and couldn't stop talking about it. It was so nice to get them out away from the norm day to day cleaning, cooking and work. Fun times!
Celebrated 10 Years of Marriage This Month!!!!!!
Our anniversary fell on the first day of our surf contest. We woke up early that morning to get out to the contest. Cody went out and made me a lei with my favorite flowers, plumerias. He brought it back to me at home before we headed out to the contest. It was so sweet. We had a wonderful day together, just being by each others side. That evening some of my girls came over to babysit and we went out to dinner. It was great day and we both just feel so blessed the amazing ten years that God has given us together.

2013 Arugam Bay Surf Contest
This year we stepped back from helping host the surf contest. There was a lot of politics we were trying to avoid. But we enjoyed being on the ground with all the boys, cheering them on. We photographed and videoed the whole contest for the surf club facebook page. It was such a fun three days! Asanka won again for the 8th year in a row. Atta took second, Calu third and Chootie 4th. Babu and Johnson made it to the semifinals and everyone surfed great.
The kids also had a blast on the beach with all their uncles in the surf club, dancing on the beach to the DJ's music, swimming and playing
