Koda's First Day at School

All ready with his spiderman pencil box

Mommy never left his side

Doesn't he just fit right in?

So we decided to take Koda once a week to this school to give him the feel of being in a school setting and listening to a teacher while surrounded by other kids. This school is located in Pottuvil, just a 10 minute tuk tuk ride away. We chose this school because there is no religion taught in this school and you can't find that too often. The teacher's name is Cavita and she is a long time friend of STN. She teaches the children English, so I will be teaching Koda English at home 3 days a week; then I will take Koda to Cavita's house on the weekends since she has offered to teach him Tamil. Homeschooling is going good so far and I'm learning different ways to have both of the kids involved and then Cody takes Kenai away for some of the time so Koda and I can focus on his school books. We're getting a morning routine down and the kids are both loving it.
Please pray for us in this process of building a relationship with Cavita and her family. Her father is the President of one of the mosques in Pottuvil. From our understanding through STN, Cavita has a understanding and possible belief in JC but not quite sure. Pray for us as we explore this and have a new family as part of our Oikos.

Baboo Gets to Test Out the Donated Spear Gun

When these boys go out spearfishing, they never come back empty handed. Fish and Chips for dinner! Thanks boys for your hard work aka fun times. Baboo was on cloud nine!

Koda's first Surfing wipeout wound

What a tough boy!!! He was ready to get back out there again even after the head high waves swiped him across the ocean floor. Lil grom :)

Our 8th Anniversary

On July 25th, while still in California, we celebrated our 8th anniversary. No better way to celebrate than......
Beach cruising from Huntington to Newport and back

Stand up paddling in Dana Point (thanks to Cody's cousin Billy and Joy)
And SUSHI!!!!!!!

We had a great weekend together! Thanks to my friend Ash and my parents for watching the kids. We don't have any babysitters in Sri Lanka really, so it was nice to be alone to celebrate:)

Arugam Bay Beach Clean-Up Day

It was a much needed day when we got Arugam Bay all cleaned up. It's a beautiful country, but it still is 3rd world and needs some TLC every now and then. Thanks Arugam Bay Surf Club for putting this together and all of the tourists and locals that helped out. STN June team was also a part of helping- Thanks!

Our Time in California

We've had a great time with our family this last month. I have felt so blessed by those that have helped us to come home and be with my family during this time. My dad is doing so good and making a huge amount of progress (looking from the outside). This week we will find out what is going on inside of his body.

We have enjoyed family time and were blessed by a family friend that allowed us to stay in their cabin house in Bishop and enjoyed fishing the Sierra Nevada's for a week.

Cody also took the kids and drove to see his family in Page, Arizona. They spent a few days on a houseboat and were blessed by Cody's grandpa driving from Colorado to see him and Cody's brother coming from Phoenix.

Once we find out what the results are from the PET scan this week, we will be booking our flight home.

So Sorry

We wanted to say sorry that we have not been updating this block in the last month. Please view our other blog regarding my dad and his battle with cancer. All updates on our family will be on there. Thank you for your love and support during this time. We are enjoying our time with my dad and mom here in the States.
